books, i recommend:

in the heart of the sea: the tragedy of the whaleship essex by nathaniel philbrick

real life story of nantucket when it was the center of the shipping industry and it’s whaleship Essex and the tragedy of the south pacific. the boat was rammed and sunk by a whale  described to be over 80 feet in length. nathaniel philbrick rewrites the story based on many points of view from the survivors who endured 90 days at sea. herman melville’s classic, moby dick, was based on this same event.
